Cantine Bove Avegiano Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2015 (Montepulciano)

  • View: Intense ruby red
  • Nose: The fruity flavour of this wine is apparent in the scent, along with nuances of firm tannins and a hint of liquorice
  • Mouth: This exquisite Italian red wine has a bold and structured fruit-forward taste with deep ripe flavours of black currant, cherry, and blackberry. The mouthfeel is smooth and pleasant, with an aftertaste of spice and oak.

APPELLATION: Montepulciano d'Abruzzo

VINEYARD: Grown in Bove's 60 hectares of vineyards in the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo region of southern Italy in marl and clay soil.

GRAPES: Montepulciano

AGEING: The vinification process for this wine begins with extended maceration on the lees, while fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled tanks. The mixture is then aged for 4 to 6 months in Slovenian oak casks followed by another 4 months of ageing in the bottle prior to release.

PREPARATION: Bove is known for creating well textured, mellow red wines that are exemplary of their region and grape variety. The winery was initially established in 1930, and its vinification style has only improved over the decades. It now boasts the most advanced technology, including its high-tech bottling plant. However, traditional Italian commitment to quality in a high priority, as evidenced by strict grape selection at harvest.

PAIRING: Beef, pasta, lamb, pork, mature cheeses
