From the fertile lands of eastern Austria comes the family-run Kracher Winery, which has been recognized as Winemaker of the Year by Wine Magazine seven times. This may be the most well-known Austrian winery in the world, with a fine selection of famous wines, just one of which is the Beerenauslese.
This wine is made using 60% Welschriesling and 40% Chardonnay grapes grown in the unique microclimate found in the 20-kilometre Seewinkel area. As part of the Burgenland region, it offers hot, dry summers, cold winters, and the fog produced by the surrounding lakes. This changeable weather is perfect for producing Botrytis cinereal, more commonly known as Noble Rot. This much-loved fungus causes changes in the grapes that result in more complex and flavourful wines.
In the case of the 2017 Beerenauslese Cuvée, the grapes were aged in a mix of stainless steel and large wood casks for 12 months, allowing the wine to rest and marry. This created a beautiful product that offers an excellent exemplar of the flavour that Noble Rot can impart. Sweet, aromatic, and lush, full of notes of stone fruit, mandarin, citrus, and more.

Alois Kracher Cuvée Beerenauslese 375ml 2017 (Chardonnay and Welschriesling)
- View: bright straw yellow color with amber and golden reflections.
- Nose: intense, with soft and sweet notes of honey, green apples, ripe white fruits, stone fruits, subtle spices, minerals, dandelion, wild flowers, peach and nuts.
- Mouth: Possesses notes and sweet spices spicy, dandelion leaves, pear, white pepper, lemon, peach, green apples, ripe white fruits and tangerines. It is very well structured and is light to the touch.
