When George Smith founded the Glenlivet Distillery in 1824, his whiskeys had no age specification. Alan Whinchester, today Glenlivet's Master Distiller, wanted to pay homage to the founder of the distillery, who created the reference whiskey of Speyside, with this single malt, without age indication.
Whinchester used the same ingredients and distillation methods as George Smith: pure mountain spring water; selected the best Scottish malts; original copper distillates, tall and narrow to add refinement and elegance to the whisky; aged oak casks and first-filled American oak barrels, carefully selected for their aromas.
As Alan Whinchester himself says, quality is the golden rule of Glenlivet Distillery.
