Bajondillo 2015

The Bajondillo had a maceration of 20 days with raising five months in new French oak barrels of 500 liters and larger. In the glass, the wine is dark red with purple luster. Lovely nose with lots of exuberant red fruit: raspberry, red currant, blueberry. Beautiful tone of white chocolate in perfect harmony. Juicy tannins, nice knotted acids. Nice juicy wine with lots of content and a very good value for money. Surprisingly, the accessibility and the integration of the barrel aging which buried by the red fruit and yet somewhat Burgundian style does not deny.

The Bodegas Jiménez Landi wine is of a red ruby colour, having reddish brown edges. The smell of this Bajondillo reminds me somehow a menthol candy. The flavour of this makes me happy.
It would go perfect with blue fish.
I drank with my partner.

The Jimenez-Landi are a whole saga in our wine scene. Located in Méntrida, Toledo, they have a particular way of preparing and wines are proof of this, with a profile that could remind Burgundy. Low red coat, with a brand acidity of the house and a good light body, but without losing complexity either. If you have no option to taste their special wines, as Piélago or Ataulfos, mostly from Grenache, this Bajondillo is perfect for discovering the style of the winery. It is the simplest end of the hold, but no less interesting, and in this case playing with a few varieties of red grape, where the Grenache and Syrah dominate.
