From the same mind behind Bodega Montes, comes Kaiken winery, the Chilean winery's Argentinean cousin. Named after a wild goose native to Patagonia, this is a relatively young brand, founded in 2001, that has begun to simply soar. Of the wide selection of gorgeous wines from the heart of the renowned Mendoza region, Kaiken Clásico Malbec is a strong example of what this Argentine grape is capable of.
Argentina is the world's biggest producer of Malbec for good reason. For Kaiken Clásico Malbec 2018, this versatile and elegant grape makes up 100% of this Argentinean jewel. Harvesting the grapes by hand and hand-selecting them in the distillery ensures that the grapes are treated with utmost respect before being processed in small tanks to retain as much of their unique personality as possible.
After ageing for six months, this wine is a dark ruby red in the glass, leaning towards purple. Because only 40% of the wine was aged in French oak, this wine is extraordinarily fresh, with a fruitiness in 2018 that other years cannot lay claim to. This would be an excellent wine to have on hand for your next barbecue.
