Catena Zapata Nicolas 2015 (Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Petit Verdot)
TASTING NOTES:
- View: intense violet, black and bluish reflections.
- Nose: complex, ripe black fruit, bitter chocolate, licorice, mineral notes, floral notes, violet, herbaceous notes, spices and pepper.
- Mouth: structured, mineral notes, gooseberry, long and persistent.
APPELLATION: Mendoza.
GRAPES: Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec.
AGEING: Aged for 24 months in new French oak barrels. Back rest in the bottle for 24 months.
PREPARATION: fermentation in French oak barrels from 225 to 500 liters; 10% and 90% whole bunches grapes. Grapes, manually overturned barrels, fermented for 15 days in the same, achieving a seamless integration of fruit / wood. low fermentation temperatures for higher extraction of aromatic components. Manual winding tasks for soft and gentle extraction of flavors and tannins. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation barrels favors precipitation of lees sediment.
RECOMMENDED SERVING TEMPERATURE: 16-18 ° C

In 1994, Nicolas and his team were confident they had identified the best lots for growing Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. First, Jose Galante, winemaker since 1975, bottling a small cut grapes from the oldest and most uniform batches of Uxmal vineyard (which later was called because of its location Agrelo vineyard in the district of Agrelo). 300 cases were divided wine Catena Alta Cabernet Sauvignon.
