  • Color: Catena Alta Malbec 2009 is of intense dark violet . Development and Aging The grapes for the Catena Alta Malbec come from small batches selected in four of the altitude vineyards owned by the Catena family : the Vineyard ? ? Angelica ? ? , The Vineyard ? Pyramid ? ? , The Vineyard ? Nicasia ? and the Vineyard ? ? Adrianna ? ? . Manual selection of grains, which are turning into small fermentation bins and tanks of 500 liters , the lots are grown individually. Fermentation and maceration for 10 to 50 days. The alcoholic fermentation and malolactic fermentation in the barrel end . Breeding is in French oak barrels for 18 months ( 70 % new) .
  • Nose: aromas are noticeable small fresh ripe black fruit , flowers salveajes , mocha and snuff . In the Palate it is a wine of great structure and concentration , soft and velvety texture .
  • Mouth: On the palate are perceived intense cassis and currant flavors , with subtle hints of chocolate , vanilla and black pepper. The end has attractive mineral flavor with finely grained tannins and lively acidity and refreshing.

In 1994, Nicolas and his team were confident they had identified the best lots for growing Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. First, Jose Galante, winemaker since 1975, bottling a small cut grapes from the oldest and most uniform batches of Uxmal vineyard (which later was called because of its location Agrelo vineyard in the district of Agrelo). 300 cases were divided wine Catena Alta Cabernet Sauvignon.

Sein Geheimnis liegt in der Auswahl erstklassiger Parzellen einer ganzen Reihe von Weinbergen: Lot 18 des historischen, 80 Jahre alten Angélica- Weinberges (860 Meter), Lot 4 von La Pirámide (940 Meter), Lot 1 von Nicasia (1.180 Meter) und die Lots 3 und 9 von Adrianna (1.500 Meter). Vereint ergeben sie einen Malbec von königlichem Kaliber, der 18 Monate in 70% neuen französischen Barriques reifte. Die frische Frucht, das sehr feine Tannin und die atemberaubende Struktur sprechen Bände.

De intenso color violeta oscuro. Su notan aromas a pequeños frutos negros maduros y frescos, flores salveajes, moca y tabaco. En boca es un vino de gran estructura y concentración, de textura suave y aterciopelada. En el paladar se perciben intensos sabores a cassis y grosellas, con sutiles dejos a chocolate, vainilla y pimienta negra. El final ofrece un atractivo sabor mineral, con taninos finamente integrados y una acidez vivaz y refrescante..



Elaboración y Crianza



Las uvas para la elaboración del Catena Alta Malbec provienen de pequeños lotes seleccionados dentro de cuatro de los viñedos de altura pertenecientes a la familia Catena: el Viñedo “Angélica”, el Viñedo “La Pirámide”, el Viñedo “Nicasia” y el Viñedo “Adrianna”.



Selección manual de granos, que se vuelcan en pequeños bins y tanques de fermentación de 500 litros; los lotes se cultivan en forma individual. Fermentación y maceración de 10 a 50 días. La fermentación alcohólica y la fermentación maloláctica finalizan dentro de la barrica.

La crianza es en barricas de roble francés durante 18 meses (70% nuevo).
