Bodega Catena Zapata Zapata Malbec Nicasia 2015 (Malbec)
TASTING NOTES:
- View: dark violet hue with bright flashes.
- Nose: ripe black and red currants, raspberries and an elegant touch of French oak are some of the aromas that can appreciate this special Malbec one of the highest Catena family vineyards.
- Mouth: Very complex and expressive palate with a creamy flavor violet with ripe blueberries, cassis, vanilla and spice cake.
APPELLATION: Mendoza.
VINEYARD: Alejandro Vigil.
GRAPES: 100% Malbec.
AGEING: The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 24 months followed by 24 months aging in bottle before release.
PREPARATION: The 100% whole bunch and berry whole 90% handloaded in new French oak barrels of 225-500 liters for 100% barrel fermentation for a period of 17 days, which allows integration of oak without seams. The fermentation temperature is kept low, drawing intense flavors and top management is done by hand to ensure smooth flavors and tannin extraction. Wild yeast. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in leaves considerable lees sediment.
WINE PAIRING: Combines well with roast beef, shiitake mushrooms and beef tenderloin.

In 1994, Nicolas and his team were confident they had identified the best lots for growing Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. First, Jose Galante, winemaker since 1975, bottling a small cut grapes from the oldest and most uniform batches of Uxmal vineyard (which later was called because of its location Agrelo vineyard in the district of Agrelo). 300 cases were divided wine Catena Alta Cabernet Sauvignon.
