You will like to know that…
Produced in Spain by Luis Caballero SA, a family business founded in 1830 that has managed over the decades to maintain its philosophy and constant search for quality, Ponche Caballero is the most popular liqueur in Spain. Made according to a 180-year-old recipe made from plums, spices, almonds and orange peels from Andalusia macerated in brandy, its sweet and intense flavours have won over lovers all over the world. This success is due entirely to unique know-how and traditions... as well as a trade secret that has been preserved for almost two centuries.
Its beautiful caramelized amber colour announces sweet citrus and vanilla flavours, accompanied by subtle notes of almonds and spices. In the mouth, an intense and characteristic sweet taste of Ponche Caballero dominates the taste. This sweetness and density of taste have made this alcohol a success on the international market. The finish will leave you dreaming with the richness of flavours and the variety of options available to you to appreciate all the nuances.
Sip it alone with ice or mixed with lime, soda or pineapple juice, the Ponche Caballero is also a great base for a Spanish Café, a Black Cab with sparkling wine and oranges, or a Silver Bullet with vodka. To taste this subtle and powerful liqueur is to embrace the best that Spain has produced in terms of know-how and taste.
Description of Ponche Caballero
- Colour: This liqueur has a bright amber orange colour. However, drinkers should note that some artificial colouring is used to achieve this hue.
- Aroma: An aroma of orange peel and spices rise into the air as soon as this bottle is opened. Secondary scents of cinnamon, vanilla, and clove complement this aroma nicely.
- Taste: This drink is the perfect combination of spicy and sweet. Most liqueurs are sweet, due to their higher sugar content than the average distilled beverage. Of course, the orange peel and vanilla also add to the sweetness. Cinnamon, clove, almond, and other nutty and spicy flavours help to make this drink full and well-rounded.
PRODUCER: Ponche Caballero is made and sold by Luis Caballero S.A. The word "ponche" is Spanish for "punch." In 1830, Jose Caballero made the first recipe for this distilled. Believe it or not, that same recipe is still used today! However, the family did not begin selling their drink on a large scale until the early 1900's. Around the 1940's, the drink left Spain and was sold around the world, as it still is today.
PRODUCTION DETAILS: This distillery is secretive about the way it makes its liqueur. However, we do know that they get their spices from all over the world before making their drink at home in Spain.
Currently Luis Caballero SA is present in more than 50 countries, with 125 employees, generating a turnover of more than 53 million euros.More about the Winery
