Hampton Water Gerard Bertrand Rose Languedoc 2018

  • View: This rose has a classic salmon pink colour.
  • Nose: On the nose, scents of red berries and floral blooms intoxicate the drinker before they can even take their first sip. Slight mineral notes add an extra depth to this aroma.
  • Mouth: This wine has a thin texture and light flavours. Red berry flavours of strawberry and cherries stand out the most. Mineral tones balance the drink. The glass ends with a long dry finish.

VINEYARD: All of the grapes used in this wine are grown in Gerard Bertrand's Languedoc vineyards. Languedoc-Roussillon is best known for its beautiful Mediterranean climate. The Gerard Bertrand Winery itself was founded in 1992.

GRAPES: Cinsault, Grenache, Mourvedre, and Syrah

AGEING: The Gerard Bertrand Winery does not age this variety of wine. As a rose, it also does not need to be bottle-aged by the customer.

PREPARATION: The different grapes used in this wine are all picked by hand at separate times when they are at their ripest. The grapes are destemmed before being cooled. Once cooled, the must is extracted. Pressed grapes are fermented for 15-30 days. The wine is then clarified and bottled quickly to ensure a fresh taste.

PAIRING: Rose wine pairs best with vegetarian salads, fish, shellfish, and goat cheese.

2018 - Non contractual picture. A collaboration of Jon Bon Jovi and Gerard Bertrand, Hampton Water captures the lifestyle and the friendliness common to the Hamptons and the South of France Domaine Gerard Bertrand: In 1975, in the vineyards of Domaine Villemajou, in the heart of the Corbières, Gérard Bertrand made his first harvest and discovered his passion for wine. He perfected his training for twelve years alongside his father Georges Bertrand.
Very attached to the values of performance and excellence learned on rugby fields, Gérard Bertrand continues his quest to reveal the best soils of the region and promote the world. It is in this spirit that he took over the family torch to Villemajou Domaine after the accidental death of his father in 1987. Five years later, he created the company of Gérard Bertrand wines to develop a range of products from the South La France. He will redeem the following years Cigalus, Château Laville Bertrou and the Domaine de l'Aigle. Convinced that an early wine in harmony with nature is the best way to reveal the typical characteristics of a terroir and develop Grands Vins Gérard Bertrand has committed since 2002 towards biodynamics to Cigalus. This culture helps to strengthen the balance of the vine and its environment. It reinforces the quality approach adopted there nearly 30 years. Today, the group, they are 300 people working there to reveal the great wines of this region. A vineyard in excellent health, a preserved environment and magnified wines demonstrate the relevance of the approach. Some plots have been identified with a unique potential revealing the particular history of the place and the age of an exceptional terroir. They are recognized as famous wine of the South of France. The Hospitalitas, The Forge, Viala and the Golden Eagle are among the gems of the collection with as emblematic symbol: Le Clos D'Ora.
Real accomplishment for Gérard Bertrand, it symbolizes the values of the group and the passion of its teams. The cellar, old barn renovated, is located over a geological fault in a unique terroir of hard limestone and clay.
