Your rating for Marqués de Griñon Emeritus 2016:Rate Marqués de Griñon Emeritus 2016:

4 /5

The Emeritus has a deep cherry red color, elegant aroma, spicy, chocolate, fine reduction, macerated fruit, greasy palette, powerful, spicy, mineral, ripe tannins. Is only made in the very best years and in a very limited edition

The vineyard for the Emeritus is located on a klaksteen plateau at an altitude of 500 m above sea level. The wine stays in total between 36-42 months on new French oak. The 2016 was only released in 2019.

Carlos Falco was educated at the University of Davis in the 70s and when he returned to Spain he decided to apply all his knowledge to the unique terroir of Valdepusa. The bodega Marques de Grinon has actually been a huge success since its first year. Innovative, creative and terroir knowledge of the vineyard makes Marques de Grinon's wines absolutely unique and has led them to put Vino de Pago on their labels.

VINO DE PAGO: wine from vineyards of a defined area where wine is made of very high quality.
This is one of the innovations from the 'de la Viña y del Vino' law and applies to wines from one specific wine domain with micro location. This is the highest category within the Spanish wine classification.

4/5

Bright ruby red colour with reddish brown highlights. Slight smell of tea in this Pago Dominio de Valdepusa. It tasted like grape juice.
I had it alone.
We drank the whole bottle at once with friends and a good conversation.
