You will like to know that…
In 1827, the distillery that would house Grand Marnier was built in a small city near Paris. In 1876, it was Louis-Alexandre Marnier who decided to mix French cognac with Caribbean bitter oranges to make Curaçao Marnier. In 1880, César Ritz, a friend of Louis-Alexandre's, re-christened this new liqueur "Grand Marnier". To explain why he chose the name, César said that a liqueur so good deserved a grand name.
Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge comes in an iconic bottle that pays tribute to the shape of the traditional cognac still. The wax seal and red ribbon are also signature elements. As the name Cordon Rouge means red ribbon, this is a nice touch. To make Cordon Rouge, delicate French cognacs are married with the essence of bitter oranges before being slow-aged in French oak barrels.
The flavours of hazelnut, toffee, and vanilla that the cognac carries with it are offset beautifully by the bitter orange. The end result is a beautifully married spirit. A liqueur this good can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or as part of any number of cocktails. Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge is an essential ingredient in some classic dessert recipes and is perfect to enjoy poured simply over a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

PRODUCER: Grand Marnier. Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge 1L is the company's flagship product, created in 1880 by the French traveler Louis-Alexandre Marnier Lapostolle. The producer took a classic cognac recipe and gave it an exotic Caribbean twist, which is now a classic beverage known throughout international markets.
PRODUCTION DETAILS: Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge 1L is a carefully selected blend of cognacs that is blended with essences from tropical oranges from the Caribbean known as citrus bigaradia. This recipe was cutting edge for its time and the recipe has remained largely unchanged. After initial distillation, the liqueur is then slow aged in French oak casks to impart roundness and subtle depth of flavour. Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge 1L can be enjoyed straight, or the rocks, but it has versatile options for cocktails, particularly with fruit juice or lemonade to bring out the orange flavours.

The result is a liqueur that has been in constant demand since its invention in 1880. Cordon Rouge is the staple of the company but it also offers five additional gems, each with its own personality.More about the Winery
