TASTING NOTES Château Sociando Mallet 2016 :

View: dark and dull crimson.
Nose: aromas of ripe cassis, minerals and spices.
Mouth: Extremely silky, elegant, good density, tasty, cedar notes on the finish.

APPELLATION: Haut-Médoc.

VINEYARD: Château Sociando Mallet

GRAPES: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot 25%, 10% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot.

WINE PAIRING: Red meat, offal.

Sociando Mallet dates back to 1633 and is named from the oldest owner, a "sieur Sociando" having a 'noble vineyard in Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne. It is around 1850 that the winery took its final name thanks to the new owner and widow Mrs. Mallet.
Since 1989 Jean Gautreau has managed to make Sociando Mallet one of the greatest Haut Médoc.

It is qualified as a "serious wine" by the English magazine Decanter. Do not miss this wine: it is not a "cru bourgeois" but could easily be considered as a Classified Growth!

A beautiful colour. Characteristic nuts notes.Licorice flavour.
I had it with fish, but I didn't like the fish, and therefore the wine didn't taste right.
The first time I drank it with people from Château Sociando Mallet.
