Château Sociando Mallet 1997 (Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot)
TASTING NOTES:
- Vista: This wine offers a lot of "wow" factor, since it is paid. Impressive color, this wine is generally young deep red color, with just a hint of purple, but the nose is exciting.
- Nose: It has lots of character, with aromas of black olives, pencil shavings, mineral exceeded black fruit with a touch of cassis and tar, cigar box, smoke elegance as endless. This rich exhibition continues on the palate, which has a sweet and spicy fruit, with a weight and fat and rich texture, cut by a healthy presence of very ripe tannins dominate endpalate.
- Palate: Acidity is quite small, but it makes the wine even more accessible. However, I do not think I can face another bottle for two or three years. Although a small team Sociando Vintage Mallet designed an incredible product here.
GRAPES: Merlot 70% Cabernet Sauvignon 30%

Château Sociando-Mallet is located in the commune of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, around 10 kilometers North of Pauillac, in the apellation of Haut-Médoc.

Sociando Mallet dates back to 1633 and is named from the oldest owner, a "sieur Sociando" having a 'noble vineyard in Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne. It is around 1850 that the winery took its final name thanks to the new owner and widow Mrs. Mallet.
Since 1989 Jean Gautreau has managed to make Sociando Mallet one of the greatest Haut Médoc.
It is qualified as a "serious wine" by the English magazine Decanter. Do not miss this wine: it is not a "cru bourgeois" but could easily be considered as a Classified Growth!

A beautiful colour. Characteristic nuts notes.Licorice flavour.
I had it with fish, but I didn't like the fish, and therefore the wine didn't taste right.

I would suggest that you serve it with a good potatoes stew. With my friends we always order Château Sociando Mallet.
Brillant ruby red colour, high layer. Good smell of coffee and toffee. A little bit salty but it was very good.
