The Rhubarb and Giner Gin addresses a new interest amongst gin enthusiasts that aims at the discovery of new and edgy flavours to enhance the natural smoothness of London Dry.
Description of Whitley Neill Rhubarb & Ginger Gin
Whitley Neill Rhubarb & Ginger Gin
- Colour: This drink is deceptively put in a bright purple bottle. However, the liquid itself is clear.
- Aroma: As the name implies, Whitley Neill Rhubarb & Ginger Gin smells primary of tangy rhubarb and spicey ginger. As a gin, one of the other primary botanicals that influence the smell is juniper. Citrus botanicals may also be noticeable to the nose.
- Taste: The flavour of this beverage matches up well with its scent profile. Again, the dominant botanical flavours come from ginger, rhubarb, and juniper. The other botanicals in this glass that have a slight influence on its flavour include coriander seed, liquorice, cassia bark, sweet orange, orris root, lemon, and angelica root. On the tongue, the drink is warm, carrying that warmth down the throat. Also, it has a wonderfully long finish.
PRODUCER: The Neill family has run the Whitley Neill Distillery since 1762 and continues to run it to this day. All the beverages made at this distillery use a 100% grain spirit base with the addition of botanicals.
PRODUCTION DETAILS: Whitley Neill Distilleries does not give away with gin-making secrets. However, we do know that, to be legally considered a gin, a drink has to have at least 35% ABV and have one of the primary botanicals be juniper. We also know that the alcohol is distilled in a copper pot still. Whitley Neill goes above and beyond with both of these requirements to make top-notch flavoured alcohol.
Whitley Neill is a distillery and its trademark of a London Dry Gin** produced with exotic botanicals. It was founded by Johnny Neill, direct descendant of Thomas Greenall and eighth generation of a family of distillers, and is located in Liverpool, England.
