The Botanist uses the classic London Dry Gin botanicals such as lily root, cassia and cilantro seeds combined with 22 local herbs, collected by hand by expert harvesters on the island of Islay. This season herb is distilled in a Lomond still, baptized by Tom Morton, master distiller of The Botanist, as "Ugly Betty" or "Betty the Ugly." Ugly Betty works at low pressure and hastily, taking up to three times more than usual, obtaining a meticulous extraction of essential oils from herbs.

Description of The Botanist 1L

The Botanist 1L

  • Colour: Gin The Botanist 1L shows a bright color
  • Smell: floral complex and openly with elderflower and mint are two botanicals that really start to stand out from the crowd after a few minutes nose.
  • Taste: A very rich and silky smooth gin that is a bug in the sense that is pleasant to drink alone. A note of citrus from the lemon balm is prominent all along, balanced by a smorgasbord of floral flavours of many botanicals used. Sometimes too many ingredients may be a bad thing, but in this case the set is actually greater than the sum of its parts.

Bruichladdich Distillery

Bruichladdich Distillery

Bruichladdich is situated on the Western Isles – Oirthir Gaidheal, the Coast of the Gaels, the land of the outsider. The raw ingredients are paramount. 100% Scottish barley is used as they believe it's called "Scotch" for a reason. It is the mayor distiller of organic barley in Scotland and they have been instrumental in support for organic farming in the single malt category. The water comes from farmer and friend James Brown’s Octomore farm up on the hill behind the Port Charlotte warehouse as they believe in community.

  • Colore: Mercurio.
