Mombasa was a very important strategic point for the trading routes between the occident and the orient. The British empire built the legendary Mombasa club for officers from the British East Africa Protectorate in 1885. Mombasa Club Gin is named after this club and is a London dry, although its recipe comes from the late 19th century.
