Description of Gin Lane 1751 Old Tom
Gin Lane 1751 Old Tom
- Colour: Gin Lane 1751 Old Tom is translucently clear.
- Aroma: Coriander and star anise are prominent, becoming more complex, floral notes when poured, with sweet peppermint echoes.
- Taste: Smooth, silky, and full-bodied, both sweet and dry on the palate. The subtle sweetness is balanced by flavours of juniper, liquorice, peppermint, and a pleasant spiciness.
PRODUCER: Gin Lane is a brand founded by The Bloomsbury Club, a group of drinks industry veterans with a shared interest in revivifying Victorian era gin for the modern market. It has worked with eighth-generation distiller Charles Maxwell at Thames Distillers in London to do that, with great success.
COUNTRY: United Kingdom.
PRODUCTION DETAILS: If you find London Dry gin too dry, and the genever style too sweet, then you have that in common with Winston Churchill and, like him, will enjoy Old Tom instead. This sweeter gin expression was very popular during the Victorian era, and is experiencing a resurgence of popularity. Eight botanicals are used to craft this gin, with an extra bump of star anise and touch of refined sugar to create the classic and well-balanced flavour profile. Also, there is no added colouring or barrel ageing in its production. As a bonus, the bottle and label are gorgeous. Enjoy Gin Lane 1751 Old Tom best with a quality tonic or ginger ale, plenty of ice, and some fresh raspberries and/or blueberries.
