Villa Sparina is located in the heart of the Gavi winemaking region of Italy. The Moccagatta family founded this winery in the 1970s. This farm in Monterotondo, Piedmont has 70 hectares of local grapes. The area treats the vines to a mild climate, excellent soil, and a great altitude - all of the ingredients needed to craft excellent wines.
Villa Sparina Gavi di Gavi is a classic wine made from 100% Cortese grapes grown in the Gavi region itself. Villa Sparina has been crafting this fine white wine since 1974. After a carefully-controlled fermentation, what is left is a bright yellow wine that is rich and full of flavour. The nose is full of fruit and flowers with a palate that is bright, fresh, and fruity.
The unique silhouette of the Villa Sparina bottle was inspired by an ancient bottle that was discovered during the excavation of the estate, during its restoration period. Designer Giacomo Bersanetti took that bottle as his inspiration when he created the remarkable gold-toned glass bottle. Ancient yet modern, the bottle is an excellent metaphor for the Villa Sparina Gavi di Gavi wine. This traditional local wine is perfect to enjoy along with seafood or fish as it is light and crisp and marries beautifully with the fish.
