Description of La Scolca Gavi Dei Gavi Etichetta Nera
La Scolca Gavi Dei Gavi Etichetta Nera (Cortese)
- View: A pale straw colour that is almost completely clear.
- Nose: Citrusy aromas of crisp lemon and lime zest awaken the palate and gains complexity with agitation.
- Mouth: A crisp, awakening flavour of fruity lemon. The dry, white wine highlights clean notes of grass, white stone, and summer fruit, reflecting the carefully selected region from which it's grown. A strong structure makes this white unique in its character, maintaining a solid balance between a tannin body and sweet aftertaste with a long finish.
VINEYARD: La Scolca, a vineyard in the small town, Gavi, Italy. The vineyard is at least 20 years old with careful attention paid to keeping the grapes from mixing with each other, so as to maintain a consistent quality.
GRAPES: 100% Cortese
PREPARATION: The grapes are meticulously cared for with extreme care given to the growing, climate, and harvest. This brand believes in growing the wine "in the vineyard" rather than "in the winery." This creates a clean, crisp wine of high quality.
PAIRING: An excellent wine to pair with shellfish such as scallops or shrimp. Pastas and gnocchi will create satisfying dishes as will adding fresh, grilled vegetables like broccoli and asparagus.
RECOMMENDED SERVING TEMPERATURE: 8-12°C
How to serve
The La Scolca® estate was purchased between 1917 and 1919 by the great-grandfather of the current owner, Giorgio Soldati, who today leads the company together with the Chiara Soldati glia, the fifth generation with an eye already at the third millennium. The past and the future coexist in this company that best combines the naturalness of those who live in this world with the speed of those who look forward with the vision of courageous captains: never as in the case of the Soldati family names have a meaning symbolic. The name of the plot derives from the ancient toponym "Sfurca" or "Looking far away" and the farmhouse that once stood there had been a lookout post in the past. The surname fully reflects the heroic and tenacious character of the owners and their wines.More about the Winery
