Bols Parfait Amour
You will like to know that…
Founded in Amsterdam back in 1575, the Dutch company Bols has slowly made its way onto the shelves of bars across the world. In fact, it might be hard to find a bar without a bottle of Bols somewhere! Their iconic bottles, with the long neck designed specifically to make it easy to bartend, offer the perfect liqueurs to mix into any cocktail on a menu.
Bols Parfait Amour is a dark purple liqueur in which a fine collection of unique ingredients is gathered. Even though the name Parfait Amour gives no hint as to its contents, this flavour of liqueur has been around for centuries. A base of rose and violet petals is paired with the flavour of orange peel, almonds, and vanilla until the mixture is deemed perfect.
This fragrant liqueur is as floral on the palate as you would imagine. It is perfect to mix into champagne or other sparkling wines, to add a delightful hint of flavour as well as a slight purple tinge. At just 24% alcohol per volume, this is the perfect product to add either colour or flavour to your next creation. Its floral notes will mix well with gin, or you can mix up any of the classic cocktails that are out there and call for this intriguing mix of flavours.
Description of Bols Parfait Amour
Bols Parfait Amour
- Colour: This liqueur has a beautiful floral purple colour, similar to that of violet flowers.
- Aroma: The primary scents of this drink is that of a blooming flower bouquet. Scents of roses, violets, and other flower petals give the bottle a delicate scent profile.
- Taste: The floral aroma is one of the primary flavours of this liqueur. There are also additional flavours of citrus fruits present, which is not highly noticeable in the aroma. A hidden flavour of vanilla also adds a tinge of sweetness.
PRODUCER: The Bols Distillery was first opened by the Bols family in the 1500s. However, it was then known as the ‘T Lootsje. It has always been located in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The distillery specializes in distilling beverages made from wheat, rye, and corn.
COUNTRY: The Netherlands
PRODUCTION DETAILS: The Bols Distillery does not give away its liqueur-making secrets. However, the distillery does claim to have used many of its recipes for centuries. It is not clear if the Bols Parfait Amour is one of these centuries-old recipes or not. While we do not know the recipe, we do know how drinks of this nature are generally made. Usually, the main alcohol used in the drink is distilled from its source. However, the ABV is usually too high for liqueurs. Because of this, the alcohol is often diluted before sugars and flavourings (whether natural or artificial) are added.
Lucas Bols returned into Dutch hands and to Amsterdam in April 2006. The company became independent in 2006 by means of a buy out by the management and AAC Capital Partners. Huub van Doorne, former member of the Board of Directors of Rémy Cointreau and now CEO of Lucas Bols, has brought the oldest distillery back to its roots: Amsterdam. In more than 110 countries Bols is known for its liqueurs, gin, genever and vodka. Lucas Bols has the largest cocktail database in the world with 18,000 online recipes. From the 60 classic cocktails in existence, most of them are made with Bols. Lucas Bols is co-founder of The International Bartender Association and founder of The Bols Bartending Academy.More about the Producer
