The Moretti Polegato family, creators of the La Gioiosa brand, have spent generations creating a culture of wine. As an Italian family, hailing from the land of Prosecco, Montello, and Colli Asolani, both the family and their land are reflected in their collection of red, white, and sparkling wines. The name La Gioiosa, meaning the joyous, is taken from the ancient name of the province of Trevioso, "Marca gioiosa et amorosa."
While they offer other types of wines, bubbles are the self-proclaimed passion of La Gioiosa. Among these bubbly drinks is La Gioiosa Frangoline Rosse, a sweet, wine-based aromatised drink. At the base of this wine are various red berry vines with a strong Merlot presence. The grapes for this mixture are all grown in the northeastern regions of Italy which are themselves dedicated to these types of grapes.
In the glass, La Gioiosa Frangoline Rosse gives off an intense ruby colour with persistent bubbles. It is an intensely fruity beverage which gives off the strong sensation of wild strawberries. This sweet, zesty drink is perfect for pairing with fruit flans, biscuits, cakes, and pastries. It is ideal for wine with strawberries. Give into the bubbles and give in to the joy of La Gioiosa.
Description of La Gioiosa Fragolino Rosso
La Gioiosa Fragolino Rosso
- View: La Gioiosa Fragolino Rosso is ruby red and presents a delicate perlage with persistent mousse.
- Nose: A subtle note of blackberries underlies the predominant aroma of fresh wild strawberries.
- Mouth: Crisp, sweet, and medium-bodied. Delicious, fizzy strawberries, with sweetness offset by a subtle but satisfying dry minerality.
APPELLATION: Friuli-Venezia Giulia
VINEYARD: La Gioiosa has a long and respected presence in the Veneto region of Italy, with a longstanding focus on balancing quality and reliability with innovation.
GRAPES: Fragola (Isabella)
PREPARATION: Fragolino spumante is crafted using the ‘uva fragola', which translates as ‘strawberry-grape', and is from the North American Vitis Labrusca or ‘fox grape' family, rather than the European wine grape family Vitis Vinifera. It was brought to northern Italy because it is resistant to the phylloxera parasite, which had been laying waste to European wine production. The grapes for La Gioiosa Fragolino Rosso were cultivated in deep, medium-textured soils.
PAIRING: La Gioiosa Fragolino Rosso is an effervescent red summer wine that makes a gorgeous accompaniment to biscuits or desserts, whether light or rich, even berry-based desserts such as fruit flans. You can never have enough berries. You might enjoy it with a classic Raspberry Pavlova, or Chocolate Ganache dressed with blueberries. Ideal for wine-soaked strawberries, La Gioiosa Fragolino Rosso is also an imaginative choice for adding enjoyment to a romantic evening.
RECOMMENDED SERVING TEMPERATURE: 8-10°C
