PRODUCTION DETAILS: This Cachaça is named after the river that provides the natural water for the plantations in the distillery, and the variety of prawn that is the image of the label and that also inhabits the river. The cachaça may have gotten its name from the old Iberian word for "inferior drink", as it was the name given to the foam that resulted from colonial sugar production. The fermented version of this foam was given to slaves as liquor. The popularization of this liquor in Brazilian lands has encouraged the refinement and modernization in the manufacturing process. As the most popular liquor of Brazil, this cachaça is perfect for the creation of Piturinha, or Pitú Caipirinha. Aguardente de Cana Pitú 1L is a sugar cane distillate, produced in Vitória de Santo Antão following the highest quality standards. After distillation, the liquor is left to rest in wooden barrels that provide the characteristic aromas and flavours. This is a strong, yet surprisingly smooth drink, perfect for cocktails, but also enjoyable neat as a shot.
