Founded in 1955, Adega Vila Real is a Portuguese wine co-operative that has over 1,000 growers as members. This Douro-based company produces its wines with the exclusive use of grapes that come from the vineyards of its members. The experts in charge of crafting Vila Real 2016 were Rui Madeira and Luís Cortinhas. Under their care, beautiful Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional grapes from the world-famous Douro valley of Portugal were hand-picked before being gently processed into wine. The wine spent four months ageing in American and French oak to give that much sought-after hint of wood to the final product.

Adega de Vila Real Colheita 2016

Aromas of red fruits and spices reveal a soft maceration to preserve the typical notes of grapes and have the wine at its peak after bottling. The palate is very smooth and sweet with balanced acidity.

TASTING NOTES:View: bright light pink color.Nose: Intense ripe red fruits, including strawberries, berries and currant aromas.Mouth: The palate is soft with notes of blackcurrant and strawberry together with a balanced acidity.APPELLATION: Douro (Porto and Douro, Portugal).VINEYARD: Adega Vila Real.GRAPES: Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional.AGEING: aged for a period of 4 months in stainless steel tanks.PREPARATION: The harvest is done manually, and then transport the grapes in wooden boxes to the cellar. Once received grapes, destemming and crushing processes are performed. The juice obtained is carried fermenting at temperature around 16 ºC, using very gentle crushing and pressing processes in inert atmosphere.WINE PAIRING: excellent accompaniment to seafood, fresh fish and white meats, just as it is good as an aperitif.RECOMMENDED SERVING TEMPERATURE: 8 - 10 ° CALCOHOL: 12.5%
