Terras de Alleu Branco 2016 (Fernao Pires, Malvasia Fina and Viosinho)

  • View: Terras de Alleu Branco 2016 has a pale, almost translucent yellow straw colour with light green hues.
  • Nose: Rich bouquet charged with aromas of white fruits, pears, apples and a little citrus.
  • Mouth: Fruity and fresh on the palate, with medium body and mild tannins. Mineral and tropical notes on the mouth.

VINEYARD: Adega Vila Real. Formed in 1955, this cooperative currently gathers the works and labour of over 1100 growers in the north-east region of Portugal, right in the Douro denomination. A fantastic combination of old vines and the most modern techniques of harvesting and winemaking, is the key for creating marvellous wines worthy of awards.

GRAPES: Viosinho, Malvasia Fina, and Fernão Pires.

AGEING: Aged in stainless steel vats.

PREPARATION: The grapes are harvested by hand, and properly destemmed and gently crushed upon arrival to the winery. Fermentation is conducted at a controlled temperature of 16°C, with regularly scheduled soft crushing and pressing in an inert atmosphere to preserve the flavour. The wine is then stored in stainless steel vats until it is ready to be commercialized.

PAIRING: Works perfectly as an aperitif, but also pairs well with soft dishes, such as fish dishes and seafood.

ALCOHOL: 12.5%

Reviews about Terras de Alleu Branco 2013

The colour of the Terras de Alleu Branco is inter yellow and transparent. Smell a bit like lemon grass. Very long aftertaste.
Right with a Caesar salad.
I tried it during a wine tasting.
I bought some bottles of this Terras de Alleu Branco 2013 at Uvinum.
I do not know whether this 2013 or the previous vintage is the best I've tasted.
