Piano 2018 (Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Tinta Barroca)

TASTING NOTES:

  • View: A rich ruby red
  • Nose: An intriguingly complex aroma with notes of ripe red fruits and a whisper of white florals
  • Mouth: Rounded body on the mouth with a layered flavour and balanced acidity. Luscious notes of juicy forest berries, plum, blackcurrant, and a subtle touch of toasted oak. The firm tannins nestle on the palate for a long and satisfying finish.

APPELLATION: Douro

VINEYARD: Douro. Doura is located in the heart of the Douro Valley in northern Portugal, where the climate is typically Mediterranean. The vines were planted in 1991 and 1992 on south-facing slopes. Harvest took place between the third and fourth weeks of September.

GRAPES: 50% Touriga Franca, 20% Touriga Nacional, 15% Tinta Barroca, 15% Tinta Roriz

AGEING: Matured for 9 months in old French oak barrels, then stabilized and aged in the bottle for a further. Will cellar well for up to 3 years.

PREPARATION: Each grape variety was vinified separately. Alcoholic fermentation took place in large stainless-steel vats which were temperature controlled to 28ºC. The alcoholic fermentation was followed by maceration is smaller stainless-steel vats.

PAIRING: Turkey, roasted chicken, duck, smoked pork, charcuterie, fish, mature cheeses, herbal salads.

RECOMMENDED SERVING TEMPERATURE: 14-16°C

ALCOHOL: 13.6%

Of beautiful ruby color and dense violets, the nose is complex, with floral notes and ripe fruit. This wine in the mouth reveals good body and balance, with a structure of soft tannins.
