Marqués de Griñón Petit Verdot 2016 (Petit Verdot)

TASTING NOTES:

  • View: it is ruby ​​red. High dark layer.
  • Nose: aroma of red fruit of the forest. Intense. With spicy notes to snuff, cinnamon and chocolate.
  • Mouth: it is powerful, structured and velvety. long finish.

APPELLATION: Valdepusa, Spain.

VINEYARD: Family Payments Village Olive. Valdepusa Domain is located in Montes de Toledo, in Castilla La Mancha, along the Tagus river, at a height of 490 meters above sea level. Its climate is characterized by continental marked contrasts between day and night, summer and winter. Soils vineyards are formed limestone Cretaceous period, with a topcoat clay and are considered suitable for the production of wines in Burgundy and other areas dedicated to the production of wines, by porosity, structure and drainage.

GRAPES: Petit Verdot.

AGEING: in new Allier French oak barrels for 12 to 15 months.

PREPARATION: Harvest of Petit Verdot is done manually, moving to its stripped and gravity discharge in fermentation tanks. Its maceration lasts 4 to 5 weeks.

PAIRING: lamb, beef, red meat, poultry, pasta and strong cheeses.

TASTING NOTES:
- View: The color is a deep ruby ​​color.
- Nose: The nose has intense aromas of red fruit woods and spices like cinnamon, snuff and chocolate.
- Mouth: The palate is powerful, meaty, velvety and very structured wine.

APPELLATION: Pago Dominio de Valdepusa Valpedusa Domain, the frame 9 has, A.O.C. since 2003, city Malpica de Tajo (Toledo).
VINEYARD: Family Payments Village Olive.
GRAPES: Mono-Petit Verdot. This vineyard is situated at an altitude of 500 m in the Montes de Toledo on the banks of Pusa River, a tributary of the Tagus, the water used to irrigate the vineyard.

AGEING: The wine is aged for 20 months in French oak barrels and semi-new.
PREPARATION: Petit Verdot has grown in soil comprising a layer of limestone dating of Cretaceous era in which a buffer layer of clay about 15 cm. This porosity makes it ideal for wine production drainage. The grapes are subjected to a prolonged soaking until 4 or 5 weeks. The wine is bottled on the property.

PAIRING: Ideal with game, lamb and strong cheeses.

An intense red colour. Smelled soft, like cinnamon and vanilla .I couldn't find any particular flavour.
I'd like to try it with a carpaccio.
