Encostas do Bairro 2018 (Trincadeira Preta)
- View: This wine is a light ruby red colour, almost translucent in the light.
- Nose: Red fruits take complete control of this wine's scent profile. This intense aroma hints at the intense flavour to come.
- Mouth: This is a full-bodied fruity wine. Even with its extremely fruity flavour, mostly comprising of red fruits like cherries and plums, this wine pairs best with spicy meats. This is because the wine has a balanced nature. Also, it has a smooth texture.
VINEYARD: The Adega do Cartaxo owns a vineyard in the Tagus region of Portugal. Here, they divide their vineyard plots based on which grapes are to be used in their different wines. The soil that composes much of their land is made of clay and limestone. The vineyard is blessed with a sunny and warm climate-- perfect for grape-growing.
GRAPES: Black Martinho, Black Tincadeira, Camarate, and Castelao.
AGEING: While Adega do Cartaxo does not give away its winemaking secrets, we can safely assure drinkers that, as a red wine, this wine can be bottle-aged for several years while retaining its wonderful flavour.
PREPARATION: The Adega do Cartaxo company is very secretive in their wine-making practices. However, we do know that they use the latest equipment and machinery to make their wines. While this isn't as traditional as some other Portuguese wineries, it does make for a modern drink.
PAIRING: This wine pairs best with spiced meats and pasta dishes.
