TASTING NOTES:

  • View: This wine has a dark ruby red colour.
  • Nose: Red berries make up the primary fruity scent of this wine. Earthy scents of dirt and wood spices and deep notes. Together, this combination creates a balanced scent profile.
  • Mouth: As with the scent, red berries make up the primary flavour of this beverage. If one flavour had to stand out over the others, it would have to be that of cranberries. Overall, this drink is tart and medium-bodied. It has a deep long finish.

APPELLATION: Dao

VINEYARD: The Quinta Do Margarido Vineyard lies in the Dao region of Portugal. This vineyard is fairly small, spanning only 20 hectares. The vineyard also has 40 hectares of olive trees.

GRAPES: Alfrocheiro Preto, Aragonez, Jaen, and Touriga Nacional.

AGEING: The Quinta Do Margarido Winery does not give away its ageing information. However, due to the oak spice flavour, we can deduce that the wine is aged in oak barrels or vats. As a red, it can also be bottle-aged for several years before opening (by the customer).

PREPARATION: The grapes used in this beverage are carefully selected. The grapes are destemmed before they are crushed. Later, they are fermented in stainless steel vats. This is done at a controlled temperature of 23ºC.
