Description of Vilosell 2017

Vilosell 2017 (Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha, Merlot, Samsó, Tempranillo, Syrah and Garnacha tinta)


  • View: Cherry bright, intense, clean and dark cherry high layer.
  • Nose: I smoked aromas of black fruit, chocolate with hints of white pepper.
  • Mouth: plush and enticingly sweet taste of blackberries and mocha. Great persistence and breadth in the mouth.

APPELLATION: Costers of the Segre.

VINEYARD: vineyards situated at 712 meters. Worked through organic farming and certified by CCPA. Work exclusively with organic fertilizers homemade. Plowing between strains preservation of plant cover soil. Gravels and substrates of varying amounts of dirt and rock.

GRAPES: Tempranillo, Syrah and Grenache.

AGEING: Aged in French oak barrels of fine grain first and second year for 9 months. Aging on lees for 3 months in cement underground tanks.

PREPARATION: Manual harvest in boxes and refrigeration of whole grapes, with strict selection of grapes grain by grain double sorting table. Cold maceration of the grapes. Fermentation and maceration of skins cut 10,000 liter tank. Fermentation between 22 and 26ºC. Work identification and selection of vine indigenous yeasts for inoculation during fermentation.

WINE PAIRING: roast pork, grilled lamb, stews, rice with meat, sausages and semi-hard cheeses.

After 20 years of experience manufacturing and marketing of wines in Costers del Segre, Tomàs Cusiné beginning in 2003, his new wine venture. Very knowledgeable about the area, engages his company with a long-term, with the aim of consolidating its hold of prestige. It is installed in the village of El Vilosell, in the region of Les Garrigues (Lleida), rent the old cooperative and remodeling, restoring underground silos and incorporating all the necessary infrastructure for elegant wines of great quality. In 2006 started the expansion of the winery with 500 m2 for the storage and bottling.

Deze Vilosell van wijnproducent Tomàs CusinéBarber is een wijn met een prachtige, diepe robijnrode kleur. Geringe transparantie, maar ondoorzichtig is het niet. De geur is onmiskenbaar Cusinéen onmiskenbaar Vilosell! Kruidige houttonen (maar ook houtige kruiden!) en roostertonen gecombineerd met zwarte verse en gedroogde vruchten. Ook vers gebrande espressobonen, de puurste chocolade en een zweem Darjeeling-thee. De wijn ademt een aangename puurheid en de sereniteit van een stille kerk. De smaakaanzet van de wijn is duidelijk krachtiger dan in voorgaande jaren het geval was. Volop concentratie, maar de tannines bezitten een aangenaam plezierig karakter. Opvallende sappigheid, niet verwonderlijk gezien de jeugdige leeftijd, maar opvallen doet het! Ragfijne zuren die volledig worden opgenomen in het buitengewoon harmonieuze geheel. Laten we ons enthousiasme voor deze jaargang niet onder stoelen of banken steken! Rijke en zeer breed inzetbare dinerwijn. Heerlijk bij wild, lam, geit, konijn, vleugelwild, rib-eye, gevogelte, boeuf bourguignon, paté, jamón, klassieke paella, op de huid gebakken vis en zacht geroosterde inktvis. Maar ook bij kazen zoals Reypenaar VSOP.

Red intense cherry colour and very high layer. The smell of this Vilosell somehow reminds me of menthol candy. A very dense red.

The best company for Vilosell Negre is a good conversation.

Intense ruby red, high layer. Sweet smell of caramel. I found it quite light.
Costers del Segre is a good wine area to drink with food.
