Elaboration of Groot Constantia Rose Constantia 2018
Groot Constantia Rose Constantia 2018
- View: Delicate coral pink.
- Nose: A complex aroma with notes of ripe red berries and floral jasmine.
- Mouth: The taste is as compellingly multifaceted as the scent with fresh fruit notes of melon, strawberry, and raspberry, complemented by a touch of jasmine blossoms and pleasant acidity. The finish is clean and dry.
VINEYARD: The grapes for Groot Constantia Rose Constantia 2018 come the Landgoed Estates in the Constantia region of Western Cape, South Africa. The combination of strong persistent sun and cool Atlantic Ocean breezes create a climate similar to that of Mediterranean countries. The grapes come from plots ranging from 48 to 148 meters above sea level on slopes that are south- or southeast-facing. Soil is primarily Glenrosa and Hutton.
GRAPES: 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 22% Semillon, 6% Sauvignon Blanc.
AGEING: Aged on the lees for one and a half months before being racked and refined for bottling.
PREPARATION: Groot Constantia put extra care into creating Groot Constantia Rose Constantia 2018. The grapes are harvested mid-January through late March with strict ripeness criteria. Then the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, Semillon and Sauvignon blanc varieties were cold fermented in stainless steel tanks temperature-controlled to 12º-15ºC. The wine has minimal contact with the skins in order to ensure a gentle balanced flavour.
PAIRING: Fish and other seafood, rice dishes, pastas.
RECOMMENDED SERVING TEMPERATURE: 7-14°C
