Valencia is very well located in the centre of the Hispanic Levantine coast, with such a great climate for production that it has a very significant impact on the development in one of the most coloured red wines in the Levante and the Spanish territory. The climate is Mediterranean, although the maritime influence is slightly diminished further away from the coast.

The areas of production in Valencia encompasses some 68 municipalities across the province, with three areas of great importance, the Alto Turia, Clariano and Valentino, without leaving out a very important sub-area, that of Moscatel de Valencia, mostly within Valentino. The planting density of the vineyards is not very high, between 2,000 and 2,500 vines per hectare.

Valencia's vineyards occupy some 400,000 hectares, and these are the most cultivated strains: Morsaguera, Monastrell, Malvasia, Pedro Ximenez and Moscatel Valentino, although in many cases, new strains such as Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are being introduced. These wines must spend at least 24 months inside oak casks to ensure correct aging..
