PRODUCER: Larsen Cognac was founded in 1926 by Jens Reidar Larsen. He left his native Norway for America, but fell in love with France, and a French girl, after his ship stopped at Bordeaux for repairs. He learned everything he could about cognac in short order and the rest, as they say, is history. The company is still family, and takes pride in crafting luxurious and beautiful packaging as well as excellent contents.
PRODUCTION DETAILS: Following vinification, the liquid is double-distilled without the lees, protecting the fruity character of the grapes and allowing the crafting of particularly fine and elegant eaux-de-vie. The producer finds the ‘coeur de la bonne chauffe' an especially important part of its process, this being the selection by the Master Distiller of the finest portion of the eaux-de-vie to move forward for oak barrel maturation. The barrels are made with fine-grained sessile oak from the Tronçais forest. The Master Blender then selects and blends with great artistry, to achieve excellence, purity, and the signature Larsen style.
