Spier Wine Farm 21 Gables Chenin Blanc 2018 (Chenin)
- View: dark gold color with a bright and vibrant edge.
- Nose: soft aroma of dried apricots and ripe tropical fruits with hints of oak and vanilla.
- Mouth: Taste good acidity and round, rich notes of peaches, almonds and creaminess that persists with its long finish.
APPELLATION: Coastal Region (South Africa).
VINEYARD: Spier Wine Farm.
GRAPES: Chenin Blanc.
AGEING: Contact with the skins lasted about 6 hours, free juice was drained to settle overnight before inoculation. Fermentation was carried out in a combination of French oak barrels. The wine aged for 14 months in barrels (60% were new landfills, while the balance was the second filling).
PREPARATION: The grapes were harvested by hand in late February and placed in boxes of 10 kg load. To get to the wineries, previously cooled before sorting, de-stemming and crushing hand.
WINE PAIRING: It is recommended to taste with crispy pork with oriental caramelization, duck breast with fynbos, fish, snacks and seafood.
