Discover More About Our Products

Veuve Clicquot Demi-Sec, created for a British market that demanded dry wines, following a long additional three-year aging in the winery and with the inclusion of at least 30% reserve wines guaranteeing the Veuve Clicquot style, developing a Demi -Sec with golden reflections deep as the sun, beautiful effervescence, and delicious aromas of ripe fruit with hints of brioche. On the palate, the generous presence of Chardonnay gives it a sweeter balance of flavors, great softness and freshness, with richer notes of praline, which make it an ideal companion for caramel-based desserts. Connoisseurs of the champagne region recommend serving it in a carafe, allowing the flavors to expand and fully develop. Veuve Clicquot

The Champagne House Veuve Clicquot was founded in 1772 and taken over in 1805 by the then-widow Barbe-Nicole Clicquot. Better known as Veuve Clicquot (Widow Clicquot), not only was the 27-year-old the first woman to run a Champagne house, she is also credited with creating the first known blended rosé champagne by blending still red and white champagne wines. This process is still used today by the majority of champagne producers. She’s also said to have invented the riddling process to clarify Champagne. Madame Clicquot became known to her peers as “La Grande Dame” of Champagne.

- True to the structure of Veuve Clicquot Wines, the Demi-Sec is blended largely from Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The blend is completed by about a quarter of Chardonnay and 15-25% of reserve wines. A higher dosage gives it richer notes detracting from its freshness.
- A beautiful yellow colour with deep golden glints, and fine, even mousse. An intense fragrance reminiscent of ripe fruit (candied citrus fruit, fruit liqueurs) with notes of brioche and toast. Round and mellow in the mouth, with mild acidity maintaining a pleasant silkiness.
- The practice of decanting this wine, which dates to Madam Clicquot's time, makes it even more delectable.
- The Demi-Sec is at its best with desserts. Pastries and desserts based on fresh fruit, citrus and dried fruit will lend delightfully with the wine's smooth qualities.
