Taittinger Cuvée Prestige 375ml (Pinot Noir and Chardonnay)

TASTING:

  • View: This champagne is a beautiful straw-yellow color with slight green hues. The bubbles are fine and persistent.
  • Nose: The Taittinger Cuvée Prestige 375ml exudes complex aromas of red fruits and toast, with notes of pineapple and freshly cut flowers.
  • Palate: The attack is frank and the development in palate pleasant, around the white fruit with slightly alkaline touches. The long finish is dry and tasty.

DOMAINE: Before being known for its champagne, Taittinger was above all an industrial and investment group, owner of the hotel group Louvre. But Pierre Taittinger fell in love with the castle Marquetterie during the First World War and purchased it in 1932, at the same time as the champagne house "Forest-Fourneaux" he renamed his name. The estate is today one of the largest in the Champagne region with 288 hectares.

Taittinger

Founded in 1734 by Jacques Fourneux, a French wine merchant, Champagne Taittinger is still owned by the Taittinger family since 1932 and is considered being one of the oldest champagne cellars. Established in the historic mansion of the Counts of Champagne it has magnificent underground cellars built in the 4th century by the Benedictine monks from the Abbey of Saint Nicaise.

It has a nice colour. Good yeast aromas enhance a wine's bouquet. It was in poor condition, tasted vinegary.
I would have accompanied it with a fatty fish.

The Champagne Taittinger Brut Prestige Blanc 375ml was recommended in Uvinum and bought it. It's powerful, I like it.
