KRUG Champagne Vintage 2004
KRUG Champagne Vintage 2004
Krug 2004 promises delectable pairing with sea urchin, salmon tartar or caviar. It also pairs very well with artichoke and a lightly spiced creamy mayonnaise sauce, delicate white fish in lemon sauce and olive oil or sole meunière as well as Thai cuisine with ginger and lemongrass. Fresh goat's cheese and candied citrus underline the Champagne's beautiful freshness, while a lemon meringue tart makes for a perfectly paired dessert.
After a chill start to the growing season, the beautiful weather from midSeptember to early October ensured that 2004 was a generous year following the challenging extremes and small yields of 2003.

Nature's elation afforded a breadth of choice and the harvested grapes were in very good condition.
For Krug, the year 2004 gave birth to highly expressive, bright, undeniably elegant and discreet wines with a shining structure.

At first sight, the beautiful light golden colour promises radiant freshness.

The nose begins with an expressive bouquet of ginger, candied citrus and quince, followed by richer notes evoking lemon meringue tart, plum and mirabelle.
On the palate, a very balanced Champagne with light notes of brioche and honey giving way to an array of fresh citrus, including oranges, lemons and mandarins, enhanced by a very elegant finish.

Colore dorato brillante. L'aroma iniziale sprigiona un bouquet di zenzero, agrumi canditi, e mela cotogna, seguito da note di limone e susine. Al palato si rivela estremamente equilibrato, con note di miele, agrumi freschi, con un finale fine. Servire a 10/15ºC. Si abbina a ricci di mare, tartare di salmone o caviale e formaggio caprino fresco.

A Krug vintage is reserved for a special year. A year they believe represents something even more exceptional than what their Grande Cuvee would produce. Only the second ever Krug Vintage created following on from the 1981, it is packed with the customary fruity Krug palate, rare flavours such as marzipan, gingerbread and snippets of oyster shell come together for something quite extraordinary. Chinese, Japanese or Thai cuisine all work well due to their flavours and spices complementing the 1998's body. Use a white fish such as seabass or turbot as the base ingredient. Robert Parker Review advocates Krug's 1998 Brut Vintage is an excellent choice for drinking today, as the classic Krug style is rich, alive and totally vivid. Honey, almonds, smoke, graphite and dried apricots are some of the many aromas and flavors found in this rich, enveloping Champagne. A wine of texture and depth,...
