Gosset Grande Réserve

Gosset, the oldest Maison wines of Champagne, born in 1584 in Aÿ by the work of Pierre Gosset. At that time only two wines had the honor to lay upon the table of the King of France: the wines of Aÿ and the wines of Beaune. The reputation of the wines of Aÿ was such that Francis I, King of France, built his own cellar to Aÿ, which then became the property of Gosset. La Maison has been passed down from father to son for fourteen generations until the disposal of the Cointreau family, which took place in the 90s. The Gosset Champagnes owe their quality to a careful selection of grapes coming from the most prestigious Grands Crus and patient processing in the bottle; there are numerous reserves produced, mainly obtained from black grapes. Objective of the House is to express the authenticity and nobility of the territory.

Very disappointing compared to the excellent ratings guides and other critics. Bulle too big and some acidity, which for me is rédhobitoire. Incomparable eg with Bollinger that costs just € 5 more per bottle or Pol Roger, who is in the same price range. Less though some less expensive champagnes such as Laurent Perrier or a good Nicolas Feuillatte. . .
