Alto Bajo Merlot (Merlot)

VINEYARD: Alto Bajo. The grapes used in this wine are grown in Valle Central, Chile. While Merlot is a famously French wine, the unique Chilian climate adds extra depth to this wine. The wine-making team for this company is lead by Camilo Viani.
GRAPES: 100% Merlot
AGEING: While the Alto Bajo company does not say how long they age their wines for, Merlot wine is fermented for an average from two or three weeks. Merlot is traditionally aged in oak barrels. Customers can choose to age their Merlot almost indefinitely.
PREPARATION: The Alto Bajo company does not share its secrets of winemaking. However, traditionally Merlot wines are made by destemming the grapes. The grapes are then fermented with the skins are to retain its dark red colour. The wine is then aged in oak barrels.
