The Piaggia farm is located in the town of Poggio a Caiano in the province of Prato, about 14 km west of Florence. It includes vineyards in the designation of origin and guaranteed Carmignano area, located partly in the municipality of Poggio a Caiano and partly in the municipality of Carmignano.
The Carmignano DOCG production area, covering about 40 square kilometers on the eastern side of the hilly area of Montalbano, in an area between the cities of Florence, Prato and Pistoia, in the heart of Renaissance Tuscany. In this area it is evident the influence Appenninico for which there are strong thermal excursions especially in summer; viticulture develops so in a particularly suitable environment, land, perfectly drained and rich in limestone and microelements allow a rapid vegetative growth and a typical balance of valuable areas.
The company was started by Mauro Vannucci, who in the mid-70s he bought land in the designation of origin area Piaggia location, convinced that thanks to the excellent exposure and the clay soil, fresh and dry would have been a great Carmignano wine.
it produced the first Piaggia Carmignano DOCG in 1991 and since then his passion for wine has been increasing more and more, so as to involve in this project also the daughter Silvia, now owner of the company. In the early 90's it was purchased about 15 hectares in one of the best areas of the denomination, a kind of natural cradle a few hundred meters from the village of Carmignano which offers a splendid view over the city of Florence. The current extension of the property is about 25 hectares, 15 of which are vineyards.
In the olive grove of Piaggia, located in the territory of Carmignano, there are four varieties of excellent olives: Frantoio 50% and 50% of Leccino, Moraiolo and Pendolino. P>
THE STONE comes from a selection namesake winery. P>
Cristina in Mezzana, in one of the most interesting areas of the Designation. Our desire has always been to enhance the peculiarities of this vineyard has excellent vocation to produce top-quality grapes.
Sasso expresses the depth and organoleptic richness of the great wines of Carmignano, combined with freshness and elegance that the great terroir are able to express and guarantee over time. For this reason we have been manufacturing this Cru, where the tradition of our land merges into a modern reading of the wine. P>
