You will like to know that…
Metaxa is a unique Greek spirit that forgoes classification. First created in 1888 by Spyros Metaxa, it is a mix of wine, aged wine distillates, and botanicals. His goal was to create a drink that was smooth, intense, and that lacked any of the harshness on the palate that the other spirits of the time tended to give off. Metaxa, while often compared to both brandies and cognacs, is a distinct product which sets itself apart from the others.
The Muscat grapes for Metaxa 5 Stars are produced on the Greek island of Samos. This island has been a source of fine grapes for wine since the era of the Ancient Greeks. The wine distillates destined for Metaxa are aged separately from the Muscat wine. After blending, the product is aged in Limousin oak casks for five years, one year for each star in its name.
Metaxa 5 Stars is a beautifully smooth Greek blend that is very versatile. It gives off a luminous amber colour and smells of the Mediterranean, giving off the scent of orange blossoms, rose petals, apricots, and raisins. Metaxa 5 Stars is perfect to be taken neat, on the rocks, or mixed as part of a cocktail. Pair it with chocolate to bring out the honeyed notes or with fresh fruit to complement its botanical side.

PRODUCER: The House of Metaxa was founded by Spyros Metaxa, who was born in 1848. Metaxa was an avid traveler. In his travels, he tested and experimented with a variety of alcohols. Finally, he created his original Metaxa spirit in 1888. He founded his own distillery in the same year. At first, the distillery produced cognac before including brandy later.
PRODUCTION DETAILS: This beverage is a bold combination of Aegean Muscat wine and brandy. Both brandy and Muscat wine are made from grapes, which contributes to the drink's raisin-like flavour. The brandy is aged for up to five years before it is used in this blend. However, the wine is not always aged as long. Once both the wine and brandy are completed in their own rights, they are mixed to create this great blend.
