Elaboration of Keo VSOP
- Colour: A golden tawny orange.
- Aroma: Tempting aromas of fresh orchard fruits with subtle hints of toasted oak.
- Mouth: Keo VSOP opens with a rich and creamy texture and a subtly sweet taste that is fruit-focused. Keo VSOP has a wonderful and balanced flavour that allows it to be enjoyed neat—particularly when paired with a red meat entrée. The brandy is also an excellent addition in cocktails such as a brandy sour, the unofficial national drink of Cyprus. The cocktail is made using two parts Cyprus brandy, one part lemon squash, 2 to 4 drops of bitters, and a splash of carbonated water.
PRODUCER: KEO. The name KEO comes from the Greek abbreviation for Cyprus Wine Company. KEO was founded in 1927 and is now a leading producer in the small island nation of Cyprus. While Cyprus is typically known more for its wine than its brandy, KEO does it so well that first-time tasters will quickly switch their allegiance.
PRODUCTION DETAILS: Keo VSOP starts with a base of specially fermented white wines from KEO's own vineyards in the Limossal district. The wines are double distilled in traditional copper pot stills and then matured in French Limousin oak, which imparts a beautiful rustic colour and aroma.
