You will like to know that…
Lying at the southernmost tip of Europe, in Andalusia, is found the special Jerez region of Spain. From this special microclimate, which is bordered by two rivers and the Atlantic Ocean, come the special brandies touched by the wind and water of this very specific area. Carlos I , produced by Osborne, is a fine example of the brandies that Jerez has to offer.
Founded in 1772, Osborne uses a special ageing system to ensure that the aromas and flavours of older wines can develop and mix with those of the younger. This means that history is mixed together in every bottle. This Criaderas and Solera ageing system sees the more mature Solera distillates added to the younger Criaderas distillates to create the character and personality of Carlos I . To create the distillates themselves, Airén and Palomino grapes, after being distilled in old pot stills, are aged in the best American oak casks.
This beautiful amber brandy shines with glints of gold in the glass. Try it on the rocks and enjoy its persistent, deep, and complex flavour with hints of vanilla, cocoa, and orange. If you are so inclined, Carlos I is also perfect for mixing in cocktails. The perfect accompaniment for rich desserts, it can also be delicious with strong cheeses, venison, and fish.

Description of Carlos I
Carlos I
TASTING NOTES:
- Colour: Carlos I has a rich amber colour with golden highlights.
- Smell: The nose is great, very balanced, with notes of good spirit and enriched by notes of vanilla, pastry snuff and aromatic intensity.
- Mouth: The palate is broad, deep, persistent, and balanced with free retronasal sensations. Slightly doomed. Very elegant.
WINEMAKING: aged for 15 years in American oak barrels of 500-litre capacity which have been previously soaked in wine for years with sherry. The ageing is carried out by the system of seasons and the traditional system of hatcheries and sills, thus providing the typical characteristics of this brandy.
CELLAR: WINERYs Domecq
PAIRING: The Brandy alone, take slightly cold sherry or similar glasses to those used for wines, a snifter of fine crystal, taking care not to be too large, or if you prefer, wide glass adding one or two cubes ice to cool and prolong the drink.
