Whitley Neill is a distillery and its trademark of a London Dry Gin** produced with exotic botanicals. It was founded by Johnny Neill, direct descendant of Thomas Greenall and eighth generation of a family of distillers, and is located in Liverpool, England. The famous Whitley Neill Gin, the distillery's flagship product, is flanked by premium vodka. Both products have many particularly flavoured variants.
The history of the Neill family in the distillation of ginrisale to 1762. Attracted by the bottles of gin in his grandmother's house, Johnny became passionate about the art of distillation and began personal experiments to obtain a gin with exotic and mysterious tastes. The Whitley Neill Gin brand was launched in 2005 and will be sold to Halewood Wines & Spirits in 2009.
Whitley Neill is a London Dry Gin produced by hand in small batches and with an exotic taste. The inspiration for this gin comes from the beauty and mystery of Africa. It is produced in a copper alembic still and contains two African botanicals: the fruit of the baobab and the Peruvian alchechengi (from the English currant of the Cape, originally from South America, but now widespread in many countries, including South Africa). There are also: juniper berries, angelica root, coriander seeds, cassia bark, Florentine iris, sweet orange and sweet lemon. The gin is produced with an infusion of botanicals in 100% wheat spirit and the distillation takes place in the still called "Costanza" which is more than 100 years old. The botanicals are carefully selected and the purest water is used for dilution. This gin is also produced in an endless series of flavoured variants from Rhubarb and Ginger Gin (rhubarb and ginger) to the award-winning Blood Orange Gin (Sicilian blood orange), Raspberry Gin (raspberry) and Quince Gin (Turkish quince), the Pink Grapefruit Gin (pink grapefruit), Parma Violet Gin (Parma violet), Blackberry Gin (blueberry), and finally, the very special Aloe and Cucumber Gin (aloe and cucumber) and Protea and Hibiscus Gin (protein flowers and hibiscus). Vodka is also present in particularly flavoured variants: Rye Vodka 100% rye and triple distillation, Rhubarb Vodka (rhubarb) and Blood Orange Vodka (Sicilian blood orange).
The original gin is sold in a distinctive matte black bottle with a stylized baobab as a logo. Whitley Neill Gin won a gold medal at the 2014 San Francisco Spirits Competition and was named one of the five best gin to buy in The Telegraph Online.
