Founded in 1921 in Salento, Apulia, Varvaglione has been active for three generations in the winemaking industry. Today, they can boast to be among the leading businesses in the Apulian wine scene thanks to the synergy of experience and tradition with innovative technologies.
From its small Salentine production area, the vineyard grew to become popular worldwide; it is now sold in more than 40 countries. Moreover, it gained recognition thanks to numerous prizes for its wines which are subdivided into collections: "Collezione Vini 12 e Mezzo", "Collezione Vini 12 e Mezzo Fashion Edition", "Collezione Vini 12 e Mezzo Bio", "Collezione Vini Papale", "Collezione Vini Luxury", "Collezione Vini Classici Rossi", "Collezione Vini Classici Bianchi", "Collezione Vini Moi", and others.
Their wines are produced with local varietals such as Primitivo, Negroamaro, Malvasia and Aglianico for red wines and Verdeca, Falanghina, Malvasia and Fiano for whites. The only non-autochthonous variety cultivated being the Chardonnay, even though the unique Taranto terroir gives an inimitable twist. These local grapes, which a grown in one of the southernmost Italian vineyards, confers an exclusive character to the Varvaglione wines.
