about Tommasi
The Tommasi vineyard is the success story of a small family business from the Veneto which grew into a truly Italy-wide company.
The Tommasis' adventure started three generations ago, in 1902, with the grandfather of the current owner establishing a small vineyard in the tiny village of Pedemonte. Over time, their estate expanded to over 195 hectares. It is in this earliest estate that their flagship wine, the Amarone Classico is produced along with the Ripasso, Valpolicella Classico Superiore and the Recioto della Valpolicella.
The second of wave of expansion was achieved with the acquisition of two additional "tenute": the Fossa Granara in Castelnuovo, Veneto, and the Tenuta San Martino in San Martino della Battaglia, Lombardy. The former is home to the "Bardolino DOC", the "Rosé Chiaretto Bardolino Doc" and the "Custoza Doc" whereas the latter is known for "Le Fornaci" and the "San Marino". Finally, the latest Veneto additions are two vineyards: the Volpare and the Monte Croce, famous for their volcanic soil.
Nevertheless, the latest Tommasi generation had Italian ambitions and launched the "Tommasi Family Estates project”, a land acquisition programme in Veneto, Lombardy, Toscana and Puglia.
Despite a wide variety of estates, the family strives to protect and improve each vineyard's identity, taking great care to develop them so that they completely fulfil their potential. They dedicate their century-old know-how to the optimization of the grapes and the wines to achieve excellence.
