This Château Ter Dolen (De Dool) in Helchteren dated 16th century, but its history goes back to the Middle Ages. It was a refuge for the abbots of the Abbey of Saint-Truiden. After passed wars, destructions and renovations, in July 1994, the brewery Ter Dolen opened the doors.
The brewery included six-cylinder tapered beer tanks in stainless steel. The blending tank has a capacity of 25 hectoliters. Since 2013, the brewery has its own bottling plant and a new warehouse with a hot room, which allows the brewery to brew and bottle himself all himself.
Since 2008, Ter Dolen Blond, Brune, Tripel and Kriek are the first abbey beers Limburg to be marked "Recognized Belgian Abbey beer."
