The SAT Bodegas Noroeste de La Palma (Vinos Vega Norte) started in December 1998 with fifty members who gathered at the first harvest came then in 1999, some 170,000 kilos of grapes. Since then they have been growing in participation (about 200 members) and output (up close to 400,000 kilos).
Their brand is Vega Norte. SAT Bodegas Noroeste de La Palma, located in the Tijarafe, farms and plantations that feed on grape also spread among neighboring municipalities in the district (Puntagorda and Garafía, especially). These lands are characterized by "having steep slopes and deep ravines," say their technicians, "which has come to surface terraces reduced due to the difficulty of working in these areas."
