The story of the Rebholz family goes back to the 16th century. Wine has always played an important role in the lives of many generations, but it was 3 generations ago, that the Rebholz family started focussing on professional wine production. And then they invented their own wine type: Rebholz. Eduard Rebholz (1889-1966) wanted to antagonize the artificially sweetened wines of his time with harsh, natural wines. What seemed to be ha hard fight at the beginning, later was a great success.
The clan of vintners has found a peculiar definition as stubborn and tenacious minds: A characteristic, which we enjoy very much to find in the wine "Type Rebholz". The natural wine doesn't get neither enrichments nor deacidification, but stays the way it came to life. The wines' natural character is supported by a biological cultivation of the vines. It is only in the wine cellar, where the winery Ökonomierat Rebholz goes with the pace of time and uses modern cellar techniques. But this technique is only used in the sense of the harvested wine character. Because, according to Rebholz, their "wines themselves know, what they want".
