Martell Cognac is one of the biggest – and oldest – cognac houses in the world. For more than three centuries, this company has been passing its expertise and passion down through the generations to retain its position in the luxury cognac industry. With its classic Cordon Bleu and Martell VSOP as well as more experimental offerings, this cognac house has a firm foot in the past while looking intelligently towards the future.
Martell Cognac was founded in 1715 by Jean Martell, who moved from the Island of Jersey to the French Cognac region. It was there that he founded his own cognac houses, one of the first in the world. In 1783, Martell was the first cognac house to send its French brandy to the United States.
In 1987, Martell joined the family of products at Seagram. In 2001, it became part of the Pernod Ricard portfolio of products.
Martell Cognac offers a wide range of cognacs with different ages and finishes. The brand also releases limited editions and collaborations regularly.
Martell VSOP: First released in 1831, this historic blend is smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced; a perfect blend of the four terroirs that comprise it.
Martell VSOP Matured in Red Barrels: The red barrels are made of aged oak, which gives the cognac a refined taste with beautiful wood overtones.
Martell Blue Swift: In honour of the long history that Martell and the US have together, this cognac takes the excellent VSOP cognac and finishes it in ex-bourbon barrels.
Martell Cordon Bleu: First released in 1912, this blue-ribbon cognac is a legendary blend. An elegant, rich, and spicy spirit like none other.
Martell Cordon Bleu Extra: This is a new interpretation of the classic Cordon Bleu blend, more rounded and more luscious, offering a new perspective on an old friend.
Martell XO: Using grapes from the Grande and Petite Champagne regions, Martell XO is intense and charismatic.
Martell VS Single Distillery: Perfect for mixing, this cognac is sourced from one single distillation source to offer a smoother and more intense spirit.
Martell Chanteloup XXO: Named after the historic Château de Chanteloup, 450 different eau-de-vie results join together to create a complex and refined expression of the possibilities of blending.
Martell L’Or de Jean Martell: This rare expression of Martell cognac combines more than 400 different precious eau-de-vie into a veritable symphony of flavours.
Martell cognacs have held firm places in history. Served at the coronation of King George V, during the signing of the WWI armistice, polar expeditions, maiden voyages, weddings, state visits, and even supersonic jets, this brand has done it all.
